When I worked at a movie theater, I had a boss so cheap that he wouldn’t let us throw out the hot dogs that had been revolving on that stupid carousel all day at the end of the night. We had to stick them in the fridge and put them back on the rack the next day...and every day after that until they looked like

You would love Les Miserables. Not really.

We managed to cover WWII in my history classes, but we always seemed to run out of time just afterward. I never got to learn about the Civil Rights Movement, Vietnam, or the Cold War. Every single year, we would run out of time. I always wondered why we didn't occasionally skip the redundant early stuff or maybe even

I took an anatomy class in college where we had (pre-disected) human cadavers and cats to use. The people were much easier for me to deal with.

I wish I learned three languages from birth! Languages are so hard for me. I have a very difficult time hearing and distinguishing the different sounds. I can’t even fake accents, even my mom’s!

Oh, I believe me, I suck at languages. But I do think that it’s important to try, especially because it can restrict your options in life as well as being very isolating if you don’t have a least a minimum of proficiency in the common language of whatever country you’re in.

I had no idea that being female was some kind of customization. Screw these people.

I wish more people in this country were multi-lingual. It would be great if we had more language study in school (as well as more emphasis on cultural study and geography). Having said that, I do think that people who immigrate here should at least make an attempt to learn basic English if possible. I try to pick up

I think that when you become a mother, you should put the well-being of your child first. Making it widely known that you neither wanted this incarnation of your kid and even feel that your kid’s very existence has created a hardship worthy of compensation for you is a shitty thing to do to a child you claim to love.

They’re a lesbian couple, so I’m pretty sure the kid and everyone else would figure out that the two parents aren’t the bio parents even without the racial differences.

I hate that one of her arguments is that she doesn’t know how to do black hair and can’t find a hairdresser to do it in her area. If she loved her kid, she would learn.

Yeah, I just feel terrible for her daughter.

19% is only just “acceptable” even when the server has an attitude? This tip inflation is getting ridiculous. I wish we could just raise wages/prices and do away with tipping.

Exactly. I used to go to Restaurant Week events with large groups for years and several of us were always very excited, because the special prix fixe menus was the only way we could afford to try out some of the fancy restaurants. Well, we ended up having to stop those events, because many of the venues started having

It’s not just family. I used to work at a place where the employees did a lot of happy hours and other social outings. If you wanted to be accepted and network, you kinda had to join in at least some of the time. I’m not much of a drinker and I don’t like beer at all, but some people would always suggest getting

That hasn’t been my experience, but mileage varies.

Oh, so it’s not splitting in general, it’s that they’re not ACCURATELY splitting that bothers you.

Why are people the devil if they don’t split evenly? Why does it bother you?

So, what do you do when you get there? Just order a drink or something small? Do you pay separately?

I guess I don’t understand why you think it isn’t fair for each person to pay for what they ordered (with tax and tip, assuming it’s calculated properly). And why do you feel that splitting the bill evenly, regardless of the difference in costs, is more fair?
