My guess for this change from comics to MCU is the same as happened to SHERLOCK: explicit gay characters would hurt sales in countries where LGBT+ is not lawful or acknowledged as normal. My son found CAPTAIN MARVEL himself & it’s his current fave comic. He’s thrilled there’s going to be a movie. As I said elsewhere, Marvel’s main problem is stories. Need more individual quality there & not so many crossovers.
