You mean firing a writer that lashes out at fans, tries to paint your company partners as sexist, “rando asshats”, and goes nuclear at even well worded, innocent critiques is cowardly? Keeping such a time bomb in the company just because she’s female would have been cowardly, and sexist. Any dude would have been fired

No, it’s not, they fired someone for making sexist remarks and for trying to paint another arenanet partner as a sexist. She called him a “rando asshat” even though he is one of the big, if not the biggest, community figures, and said she hurt his “manfeels”. I bet you both of my legs that you’d get fucking whiplash

Yes, which is why it is just that Price got fired for targeting someone because of their gender.

Nah, the rest of the devs are fine. As long as they don’t try to paint the authors of replies like these:

Imagine how much information kotaku has ommited in the article for you to still be left wondering why she was fired. Consider that this would be a major games company firing a FEMALE writer in 2018. This is a big company, and surely they have a huge legal AND marketing team that has weighted the pros and cons of being

Serious question: have you read Deroir’s response that was considered “mansplaining”? Just in case you haven’t, this was in response to a 29 tweet long opinion piece that she opened herself to discuss MMO PC characters:

You don’t get it because Kotaku, as usual, is a biased source, and apparently always tries to paint women as innnocent. Price came out of an AMA and posted this:

Deroir was not pretending to know more than Price. She continued an AMA discussion with a 29 tweet long thread about MMO PC characters, and he responded with this:

Except this was not a customer, nor he was a raving lunatic. Deroir is an ArenaNet Partner, someone they specifically partnered with because of his influence on the community because he’s a pretty chill guy, and they wanted someone like him to pull new players in. They even made a character in-game after him. That’s

This was the original reply by Deroir:

The woman lost her job because she constantly lashes out at fans, and in this particular occassion, called an official ArenaNet partner a “rando asshat” for replying the following:

As it turns out, Deroir is not “someone who claims to be a player”, he’s an official ArenaNet partner, someone ArenaNet partnered with specifically to pull more players into the game. He’s such a big figure in the community, that ANet even included a character in the game made after him. You know what warranted her

Except Deroir is not a consumer, but an official business partner to ArenaNet, someone they partnered with specifically to pull more people into the game and have someone from within the community to get feedback from. Have you even read what was considered so offensive that Price felt the need to defend herself from?

That would be fine, but no one was or felt “entitled” to her time here. She was just coming out of a reddit AMA and felt the need to continue posting on twitter, going on a 29 tweet spree detailing her opinions on why MMO characters are not compelling. This was not Deroir randomly coming and telling him what he though

Did you read her thread? They were not discussing how to do her job, she was detailing her opinions on why MMO characters can’t be compelling. He pointed out why he thought they could be compelling, giving an example of their own game with a few points that have been common talking points amongst the GW2 community for

He’s an official ArenaNet business partner, not “just another youtuber”. She not only had that interaction with Deroir, but blocked several other partners including dedicated GW2 news outlets that pointed out that her reaction might have been a tad over the line for a post that was completely civil.

Are you actually serious? A fan insulting her? This is the comment she felt the need to defend herself from:

Sorry, but no. This is Derior’s original comment:

Huh, are you sure that calling “random asshat” a client and business partner for responding like this:

She has every right to defend herself in public
