Heh, my boss let’s us do that even without knocking it out of the park. She let’s us take a couple hours here and there for appointments or leaving early friday without entering it as PTO on the timecard.

That’s not a parallel comparison. There’s no logical reason why the grocery store should gas up my vehicle. But one who puts a bank of EV charges in their parking lot is declaring a new service for their customers. That electricity should just be overhead. Like the lights and running coolers and air conditioning.

The grocery store doesn’t (directly line item) charge me for the lights and HVAC that need to be on inside for us to see.

The question becomes similar though. Robust multi-region DR costs more from AWS but should still be standard for any large platform. I’m guessing Reddit spends less at AWS than other large services.

Speaking of which, there seem to be some major internet outages today. Reddit is down and so is a political blog I frequent (that gets 100s of thousands of hits daily).
