This narrative is a little frustrating to hear from journalists over and over again.

“I was temporarily using an electric car and got some range anxiety when trying to push it towards its maximum range.”

In the example post here, you’re attempting a.. 160mi roundtrip?

Here’s the thing. Most people aren’t doing that every

She is, all things considered, far more relevant than you are.

You forgot one Samantha;

Making a safe self-driving car isn’t the hardest part. The hardest part is making sure that car doesn’t frequently stop for no good reason, fail to proceed when it should, or slam on the brakes unexpectedly causing it to be rear-ended by a human driver.

The only hybrids I’ve driven are earlier-generation Prius and Highlander models. The regen braking is fine to have, my only problem is that it’s not smooth enough to be deterministic (e.g. I don’t know what distance it will take for me to regen down from X to Y mph, it varies, so I rely mostly on the brakes and can’t

As the range of EVs goes up (and prices come down) the cost of solar panels does the same, making EVs such a no brainer at this point. I’m currently having a 9KW system installed at my home which should take care of all our home use as well as 1-2 EVs (we’ll see). The total break even point is only 6 years, and thats

Counterpoint: 60hp is an excellent amount of horsepower to handle stop-and-go (mostly stopped) traffic.

I’m convinced that there are 3 types of VW’s:

Most Tesla buyers are former BMW owners.  Other than the drivetrain tech, there is nothing that remarkable about BMW in the luxury department.  This is the market Tesla has captured.

I’m an engineer at Gigafactory 1. You will never find more enthusiastic “car people” than the people who build and drive Teslas.

Exactly. Tesla owner and 1991 E30 owner here. I love my Tesla BECAUSE I love cars.

Exactly. A good friend owns a gen1 NSX (since new) and a Model3. He’s absofuckinglutely a car guy.

don’t realize that they’re not really Car People”

In case you didn’t know, fast charging is a thing.  I typically get all the charge I need in about 20 minutes.  I use the bathroom, play with my phone, maybe find some food in that time.

Buy a Tesla. Problem solved. Owners have been taking Teslas on road trips for years now.

My take on this (for everyone getting their knickers in a twist).

1. It’s a clever environmentally sound way to enjoy a classic car.

This question is my trigger. “The difference between AWD and 4WD” is fundamentally flawed; There is no difference. There is only 4wd and different operational methods. This either or system defined by haves and do not haves always has exceptions and often misses the heart of the issue.

I really can’t fathom how someone would prefer to waste time at a gas station instead of GOING FUCKING HOME!

I’m not so sure about contactless charging, it didn’t work out so well for the red shirt.

Yes, going out of my way, interrupting my route/flow in traffic to find a gas station and then standing around wasting time at the gas pump is a much better solution than charging at night. I love the smell of gas on my hands after pumping gas.
