So...nobody’s going to talk about the misuse of “hyphenated” in the article? A colon is not a hyphen.

But again, he obviously already thought that. Westworld’s entire design as an amusement park is that people are shit. My core issue is that Ford’s actions require a change of heart, but the show went out of its way to demonstrate that he never changed his opinions on the underlying moral issues, but still decided to…
But what is the epiphany? This isn’t, “I was wrong, robots are sentient after all and this is morally wrong.” This is, “My basic understanding of the issue has not changed at all, but now I think this is morally wrong.” This is the driving force of the host uprising; without Ford’s intervention, the story doesn’t…
But given that, why build the park in the first place? My issue isn’t with his stance, it’s that, according to him, he never really questioned the truth of this to begin with; it was irrelevant that the hosts were sentient (or humans no more sentient than the hosts). So why build the park in the first place? What made…
Still kind of sounds like fun to me.
I’m hopeful that we learn a bit more about Ford’s motivations, and that Hopkins isn’t entirely gone (why hire him for just one season?). I mean, he built hosts of his own childhood family—including himself!—and his weird morality was at the center of everything that happened in season one; he’s an important figure in…
Do you have any evidence that they got to “truly make the game they intended to make” or that achieving that goal is meaningful to their remaster plans? I mean, Atlus does tons of re-releases; they’ve had one already this year and another in May. It doesn’t seem implausible to think that their policy is to just come…
Persona 4 also uses honorifics, but still has a stronger localization.
Let me complain about the framing device some more: it’s not used to any great effect. You don’t really see or learn anything in the framing device that sets up the switcharoo that the team ends up pulling on Sae and Akachi, and the way the game allows—encourages—the player to do side missions and spend time hanging…
I didn’t talk back to the teacher. P4 is set up to be a lot less hostile compared to P5, so where I felt encouraged in P5 to tweak the noses of the jerks around me, in P4 I’m (so far) inclined to be a good boy just trying to live a normal life.
Sae is easily the worst offender for bad translation. She’s supposed to be more formal and stilted than the other characters, which means that the iffy translation just compounds it to the point that she seems like an AI that hasn’t perfected its language acquisition skills.
Basically, the Persona 5 translation just wasn’t that great:
I would hope that a P5 Crimson (or whatever) would involve giving it another going over. But who knows; if they didn’t care enough to do it the first time—despite their long legacy of having much better localizations—why would they care later?
I’ve been kind of wanting to play Persona 5 again, but Atlus is prone to releasing improved versions of their titles down the line, and it would be very easy to burn out on such a long game and end up missing out on new content later. So instead, I picked up Persona 4 Golden on my Playstation TV. Obviously a step back…
Yup. With Pandora telling Kratos that he needs to “forgive himself.” Did you not notice the severed head he was using as a flashlight, Pandora? He’s a little past being forgivable.
GOW3 has problems, but man, the combat is so tight in the 60FPS remaster. I would just like all the mainline games on one platform (I could take or leave Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta).
It irks me that GoW 1&2 and Ascension aren’t on PS4. But apparently GoW3 sold really badly, so we’re unlikely to see them unless this reboot does so well that Sony thinks there’s money to be had by offering the “origins of the story.”
I will probably get this because I love the God of War games, juvenile and morally repugnant though they are. I am concerned about the pace of combat, but we shall see.
“This ‘crisis pregnancy center’ crap is currently in front of the Supreme Court, with a decision on their lying, bullying zealotry expected this summer.”
I was never very impressed by Resistance. There were some cool weapons, and I liked the old school, carry-them-all part, but man, were they ever stingy with the ammo for the more interesting options.
