In every instance, the phrase needs explained because in every instance the product is still exactly the same, even if zietgiest, circumstances or mores have changed. I say the phrase is useless.

And that's fine for your average Joe. But for someone who's paid to write about movies, it seems like maybe a modicum of research might be in order. The dismissive, "whatever THAT movie is all about" attitude drives me nuts.
Yeah, why *were* those kids on the Hostile movies punished? If only Eli Roth had granted multiple interviews where he came right out and stated explicitely that those movies are an allegory for the War on Terror. That would have been helpful and made this article sound like it knew what it was talking about.
Geez. Really?
Again, this is a much better deconstruction of what has happened with the film. Rather than "didn't age well", which is nonsensical.
And this is a much more articulate explanation than leaving it as "didn't age well". Because the film is a recording and does not change.
I wish we could call a moratorium on "didn't age well". It's a terrible criticism that too often is left out in the air like an explanation all itself. HOW has Slingblade not aged well? Is it not the exact same film as released? Is it possible that YOU are a different person who can appreciate that it isn't as good as…
How many Roberts De Niro?
lol
Geez, the pacing on the editing on that scene is horrendous.
There were a lot of problems with Daredevil (direction being the biggest), but Ben Affleck was not one of them.
What? A non-documentary film that is "based on" true events consolidates characters and fudges the truth here and there for dramatic effect? Shocking!
Also, what kind of reviewer critiques a film by what he thinks some cartoon characters might think about it?
Glad I could help.
(Spoilers)
The male half of that group is in a coma. Does that help?
The first thing I did when I saw that Terry O'Quinn did a Random Roles was to check to see the byline. And I was happy to note that it was Will Harris because I knew he'd ask about The Rocketeer. I'm just a little disappointed that O'Quinn isn't particularly fond of the movie because I felt his take on Howard Hughes…
I don't know. Thought someone would care or have had the same thought. Why did you feel the need to reply?
Many praises to the Lord!
Whew. I thought this was Agents of SHIELD. Especially with what looks like a neon Captain America Shield over his shoulder. Glad a show I'm halfway fond of won't have to have a actor switch-out.
How am I stopping you?
This is not true. I expressed incredulity over the timeframe given, but I wasn't sarcastic until I go someone congratulating me on catching up with everyone else.
