EA allowed them 7 years, and they were evidently able to get a B-level game done in 18 months. With that in mind, the real issue is probably the fact that 5 years were wasted due to subpar leadership leaving them with only 18 months in which to work through the tech issues to get a game at least shipable.

On a side note: I’m pretty amazed at how WoW manages to look both dated and not that bad at the same time. I suppose it’s the nature of their art style. But I’d think a 14-year-old game would be atrocious looking. Love you and miss you, Azeroth.
