a buddy had a beat one with 200k miles on it. We swapped the pulley, diy intake, and a tune and it was pretty darn quick for the sub $700 we spent on mods. Was really fun from 0-60 or so. top end wasn’t great, but it was a blast around town stop light to stop light. tire melting machine from lights.

Well apparently a few buyers at least thought these were long term investment pieces, which means they probably aren’t driving them very much, if at all.

I’m still more that 83.2% certain that everybody, except maybe Elon, at Tesla knows it’s a gag/gimmick and that the underlying chassis is going to go under a much more reasonable truck once the interest in Cyberfuck wanes. Your 1 year estimate seems high, but reasonable.

Dodge did this with Rumble Bee versions of the 1500 in 2004.  Said they would only make 3700 and then promptly went ahead and made a ton more. Pretty sure there was a similar lawsuit and the plaintiffs lost.

“The 2021 Durango Hellcat” was THAT model-year run. The “2023 Durango Hellcat” is a different model-year run.

They (Dodge, Cerbeus, Stellantuss, Chrysler, Merc, ...) said they’d only make a single year of 2021 overpowered/priced boxes. Now they are making a 2023 single year of overpowered/priced boxes. Seems different to me. They (Dodge) aren’t calling the 2023 a 2021 so it’s exclusive. The snowflake owners need to find the

This has happened for decades. It happened way back in the 80s. GM said its last year to make convertibles, for various reasons, was 1976 with the Eldorado Convertible. The 1976 Eldorado Convertible ended with a run of 200 “Bicentennial Edition” models, celebrating the USA’s 200th birthday.

I second this

Right? I feel like I’m missing something, but maybe it actually is just spoiled ass rich people.

I rarely side with automakers or dealers, but damn these owners suck and just need to deal with it. This is literally how every consumer product works. Unless there was a contract or documentation stating these would never be made again... too fucking bad? This is what you get for overpaying for stupid vehicles.

Just call them Durango Redeyes, helltigers, demoncats or make those babies even more butthurt call them hellcat+.

I was thinking the same thing as a younger millenial (born between ‘90 in ‘95). The general vibe I’ve gotten is I’m the weird one for even knowing who Lenny Kravitz is.

Maybe this is a way to shutdown a redundant brand: spin it off to investors, pull in some $$$ with the IPO. The brand goes bankrupt with a load of debt after a few years and the entire dealership network gets shutdown ‘for free’.

Feels a bit like what Vulture capital did to Toys R Us and Sears. Spin them off with a load of debt and force them to pay you income in the form of repaying that debt.

“I believe the first couple iterations had no active handling.”

If you don’t drive like an idiot...” The problem is when you get behind the wheel of a car that literally pumps your self image and ego up to 3X its normal size, people take on the persona of an idiot. Its like letting someone borrow your jetski, there’s a 99% chance its going to be returned broke.

They look kind of goofy in a very specifically early-90's way”

JOKE ALERT*** It is a truck engine you can get all the rubber stuff from your local truck supplier.

Modern Tires help a lot. And pay attention before you hit the loud pedal

“Needs a basic tuneup,” along with the replacement of everything rubber or soft or remotely prone to rot. I don’t have any idea what hoses and whatnot cost for a Viper, but I can’t imagine the task will be “basic” in any capacity.
