Massive car fan here (obviously), but also a city dweller. The fewer cars there are in a town, the better! Transportation needs alternatives: excellent bike infrastructure, well-funded public transport and walkable mixed neighborhoods. When those are in place, you can reduce car use time by at least 50%. And everyone

Yep. This product smells like design by committee.

The cost isn’t the only hurdle to mining all the materials needed for BEV. Everyone wants to be self sufficient until a company shows up at a zoning hearing asking to rezone their back yards for a mine.

The 68RFE is also lighter by 50-80 lbs. That’s no big deal on class 3 and up trucks, but it’s an issue on the Ram 2500 that’s payload limited from trying to stay within class 2b. With the way my 2500 is configured, I only have enough payload left for around 10,000 lbs of towing, and additional 100 lbs will remove

Likely other aspects. All fire trucks will break, some more than others. But ease of access and part availability is the big concern. These style trucks are usually more space efficient than the traditional style trucks, but that also means that if something in a hard to reach spot, it’s going to take a lot longer to

Time will tell, fire trucks go through incredible abuse and need to be easily serviceable to get back up and running quickly. Full throttle, panic stops with a 20k lb truck with no time to cool down the brakes and curb hopping will put these things to the test. If these things are easily serviceable and repairable,

They probably have a rough idea of how many charge and discharge cycles they’ll have. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s having to be recharged multiple times a day.

Depends on the state and which transponder you select. The free option is for my state and nearby states. The option that works with the most states is just under 7 dollars, which is around the discount rate for driving through the tolls on the drive home for the holidays.

The pass with the transponder usually has a cheaper rate than the pay by plate.

This. And it doesn’t light as easily as the tails of the internet suggest. Precautions should still be taken.

I agree. Fortunately, the Ram still has a 2 tone option. Unfortunately, the options are pretty limited.

This. Fortunately the fuel surcharge helps. But spot rates have been on a massive decline and is what’s hurting the truckers the most. The rates went from near record highs to below average very quickly.

This is why I fear letting anyone borrow my truck or car(both diesels). I wouldn’t be able to trust the fuel system after a misfueling if it doesn’t completely fail. And when the individual injector alone costs nearly a grand, it’s easy to see why.

Sometimes a station will have a green handle for gasoline. The one that almost tripped me up was when they had a small blue handle next to the diesel, usually that’s DEF, but sometimes it’s E85 or ethanol free.

Fleet managers seem to be filling up the order forms for the F150 Lightning on routes that stay local. I know of one fleet manager who has a mess of them on order and have orders for the EV Ford Transit. The biggest thing they’re excited about is the on board power that allows them to use more corded tools.

The only problem with the bigger is always better theory is the suspension. The F450 with the strong enough rear end to hold 8,000 lbs rides like hammered dog shit with light loads and ends up beating the trailers to death. My buddy has that issue with a 5500 and stepped down to a 3500 for that reason.

Correct. There was one commercial market that the Hummer previously aimed for, that was event promotion for major brands, broadcast networks, etc. Basically any big company looking for a tax write off and an excuse to have hummer. That market was just eliminated with the class 3 rating, I’m wondering if that’s why

The important factor here is that the Hummer EV has a GVWR that exceeds 10,000s and is rated at class 3 with a GVWR of 10,550.

The only thing worst than expensive heating oil is no heating oil, which is a possibility for Maine this winter. EIA data has been getting worst each Wednesday, stocks dropped to 106k(around 140k the previous week) barrels last week for New England.

Likely similar to the Hummer EV. 4,000lbs isn’t much, the Hummer EV gets around 140 miles with a 6,000lb trailer. A realistic usable range would likely be closer to 100 miles, but wouldn’t be surprised if you can push it closer to 150-160 in perfect conditions and arrive at the charger with no range left.
