Real world, the Equinox is hitting that EPA number just fine. These numbers are shameful.
Fuel economy is definitely not a reason to buy the diesel in this application. I’m not sure why the fuel economy is so poor on this one.
Problem with the diesel is, there isn’t enough torque at high speed to really accelerate.
This is the response I was looking for.
John Delorean would be proud.
That’s so pretty! That’s the BHW unicorn engine! Do you know if the balance shaft has been deleted? Once that thing is removed, it’s robust AF and has a bottom end built as if it was designed by Cummins. The balance shaft is easy to delete when changing the timing belt. That engine is the grandfather to the Duramax in the Colorado and father to the one in the 2006 Jeep Liberty CRD.
Cheap, comfortable, reliable. Pick two.
You never mentioned anything about towing a forklift all the time, you only complained about needing a truck to drive in the bad weather.
A budget 40 mpg car that had heated seats, a heated steering wheel, a manual transmission and Uconnect. What more were you hoping for?
Then they turned it into a lifted wagon, changed the styling, tossed a few Jeep logos on it and found the recipe to make it sell as well as the Wrangler.
