Quite a few states do (voluntarily): Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Mexico (2011 model year and later), New York, Nevada, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont, and Washington (2009 model year and later).
Do I have to make a sign that says “California has a waiver specifically because otherwise it would de facto dictate emissions for the ENTIRE COUNTRY because of a whole litany of reasons under the Clean Air Act,” staple it to the foreheads of stupid people, and then tap the damn sign?
At a certain point in the price of a vehicle, fuel mileage no longer is a significant factor in the economics of purchase.
Yeah I don’t know when $70k because a somewhat normal price for a car. But I see a bunch of Tahoe/Yukons, Expeditions, and am sure I will see a bunch of these once they hit the streets. Never mind the mind boggling number of people buying King Ranch/Limited package F-150s and their competition.
I think my concept of pricing hasn’t changed since 2008 or so. A new, midsize car should be like $25,000 and a house should be like $250k.

Dude, a high trim Escalade is 6 figures. At least in 4 years the Toyota will not be falling apart.
Wrong make. You might be thinking about a Ram pickup. Oh never mind, you said “mildly” racist.
Honestly if I was a car maker I would just make the vehicles to California standard and sell them everywhere.
Ooof... as an owner who loves the red on these, I was very much on Team NP.... even though the intake looked odd to me (and didn’t appear to be from a major brand).
Back in the Eighties when I was wandering around a Ford dealership lot I noticed that all of the cars had California emissions on their stickers. I was living in Maryland at the time. I bought one and it didn’t affect me at all.
GM is committed to an all EV line up so they are already leading by example. They don’t have to side with anyone. They can sit back and say, “we’re already doing it.”
Most of these self deluded GOP asspoles, (spelled that way on purpose) were not alive or never got to experience the smog life of the 1960's and 70's...and they don’t give a fuck, even if they did. California started the ball rolling on emissions and smog/air issues. This is another MAGA “Fuck California” game being…
Note that no carmakers have joined on the side of the AGs - just an oil lobby.
...a ruling that a group of 17 Republican attorneys general is currently suing the EPA over.
1st Gear: “They want to do one thing and stick with it, ideally for the entire planet, because manufacturing is easier and less expensive that way.”
“lawsuit is that carmakers don’t want to keep changing their plans for emissions laws that vastly swing from progressive to regressive”
What we don’t get to see, nor read any mention of, is the to.
This is a NP in today’s market. Check any of the S2000-specific sale groups on facebook - $14k is the going rate for a salvage title car with lots of miles and mods on it. Lowest I’ve seen recently was $11k for a clean title with 340k miles. Rolling shell is 6-8k depending on condition. $14k for this one is pretty…
