I think it’s less about completely preserving the look of the front end, and more about mostly preserving the look while also not having to drill holes in the bumper.
Because you are walking around with an unique face. So if you commit a crime they can recognize you by your mug. Which is actually even worse than license plates based on how many people are wrongly arrested or convicted based on other people “recognizing” them or picking them from lineups or even automatic face…
The only advantage I see is that it eliminates the drill holes through the composite bumper.
