Most people don't own thier solar. It's installed by the company in exchange for a lowe rate. Outright buying your systemis fairly rare anymore.

You can also do systems where you pay nothing up front but your lower rate is locked in forever, but then you don't own the system, you're leasing your roof to the solar company.
