The world is full of people who think a great idea is worth more than a dime a dozen, for which highly skilled peoples would be happy for the “privilege” of working on it (for free of course, until jackpot!).

Surely they evaluated both options, and figured it was better to waste corners of lands instead of having to deal with a non-circular watering system.

The whole point of an open phone is so anyone can port any OS to it. They themselves simply support a default option, one that is way more likely to be interesting to more people than Linux or Ubuntu.
