Yeah we should just throw radical, society-altering ideas at the wall and see what sticks. $52k is poverty in DC, but the larger point is that these public office holders will be living on essentially a per-diem while they are in office, not even the $52k. You think they’re not going to be champing at the bit for the

Hamilton Nolan posts are a lot easier to fully understand when you realize that they could just be “FUCK RICH PEOPLE” in size 144 font and be identical in content and thought put behind it.

To Trump voters, “the elites” are college professors, scientists, and people who eat arugula.

No.

Impoverishing public servants is a surefire way to create terrible corruption. One could argue that we already have terrible corruption, but this would be much worse.

Careful on the signage you put on your car. You don’t put Charger stickers if you live in a Raider neighborhood.

Sounds as well thought out as anything else in the Trump campaign.

Sad. It’s time for people to unite behind Trump’s platform of division!

Yes, let’s discuss the broad range of enlightening ideas regarding killing abortion doctors, beating up gays, suppressing votes, gutting the middle class, grabbing pussies etc. God, the two world views are just a hairsbreadth apart can’t we all just get along

No, it was just tired of winning.

People who place a greater value on a thing I do not value = people who do not place enough value on a thing I do value = people who do not think like me = people who are insane / nuts / crazy.

Average home price in Brooklyn is $788k. If you look at just Greenpoint and Wburg, it’s over a mil. More than Manhattan ($900k). Stay in Brooklyn. But don’t come across the river for actual work, either.

No, I’m talking about the people who will lose their jobs if there is a wage floor that is 50% higher than their current wages. Small business, especially in the the restaurant industry already operate on thin margins, they cant handle 50% increase in payroll costs and will opt to cut payroll.

You’re completely ignoring the fact that there are less 13/hr jobs than 7.25/hr jobs. It’s not the same 100 people, its more.

It’s as if you dont understand the concept of a wage floor, and think raising a floor literally pushes everyone standing on it up. What it does is creates a surplus because at that level there is more supply than demand.

Whatever they are willing to accept. The pay is usually based on their experience, skill and job requirements.

I’m sorry, it is total BS. I have a college degree and worked hard to get where I am today. Paying someone $15/hour to flip burgers, cook french fries, push cash register buttons, or make a sandwich is ridiculous.

No one likes to talk about the trickle up costs of this. As a business owner, if I have to pay a McDonalds worker $15/ hour, those costs need to be borne somewhere. Its either through automation (ordering kiosks to eliminate headcount) or increased product price. Who eats at McDonalds primarily? People making

The $15 minimum wage idea is nice-sounding, but fraught with peril. It will escalate the drive for large corporations to automate and eliminate labor. Smaller businesses will go away in large numbers, and what will be unseen is the number of small businesses that will never open going forward.

So I guess it’s common on Polish beaches to build yourself fabric walls for some reason? Then you just sit with no umbrella or any kind of shade and bake under the direct sun in your little box?
