It goes to some pretty weird places for laughs. Most of the jokes are fun, character-based stuff, but Hemsworth is wayyyyy out there. He's basically playing a live-action Ralph Wiggum.

I'd just like to pile on the love for After Life. Except for that and Nobody Knows, his other movies I've seen haven't had that much of an effect on me, but they've always been enjoyable. Can't say I'll be seeking out this, based on the review.
"Hirokazu Kore-eda wrestles with the great Yasujirô Ozu for the title of “most gentle and serene” (though the two would be more apt to sigh wistfully at each other than do any actual wrestling)"
Or Charlie Kaufman!
It's a gorgeous review filled with memorable and very evocative turns of phrase. Tangerine nightmare!
I'm doing my part!
(Tuns around and walks into into a local coffee shop that isn't part of the local carbon savings scheme, lit dynamite sticks akimbo.)
Yeah, he was great in that, it's just that for me at least it came out of nowhere - it's not like Darin, for example, who had done tons of crap on TV but still showed he was a good actor every now and then.
Haven't seen this yet, but the review gets it exactly right in that Pablo Trapero has some serious technical chops, and is not usually a great storyteller. I'd add that he often has a great eye for characters and settings with a very specific Argentine feel, for want of a better description. All this means that I've…
Hey, German boy! Go back to Germania!
Just got this, listening to it now - so far it's really, really good, and seems like it will only get better with repeat listens. Feels like it has less filler tracks than most of their albums.
Oh man, now you're going to have to spoil the stuff in the end credits too!
So this is basically a proper gothic movie, then? I am absolutely sold.
Holy shit. With that poster, I don't see how you could ever be wrong,
I'd check Andre Allen's Uprize, though apparently it isn't very good.
The movie title, the header picture and the poster really make this seem like a (really bad) horror movie.
They'll just make superhero 70's style conspiracy thrillers instead. Hell, they already have in the Winter Soldier.
I love Scott Pilgrim for a lot of reasons, but I can easily see how other people wouldn't. It's a deeply idiosyncratic movie.
Holy shit, I've just realized Johnston would have been a natural fit to direct this after Wright left… he did Honey, I shrunk the kids!
Yeah, the music on the last couple of Rayman games is gorgeous. So, so good - and the quiet beginning to the underwater levels, where you're just fooling around, might qualify for the list.
Hexcells infinite - since pretty much the whole game is pretty relaxed, I'll just nominate the whole soundtrack. Couldn't find any of the music online without some annoying person blathering on top of it, though, but… well, just buy the damn thing already; if you like puzzle games you'll be more than pleasantly…
