I'm still waiting for a retread of I Break Chairs…
They've written several, as far as I'm concerned - hell, I'd nominate every other song on Winged Life. Can't wait to see them live next month…
"Morrowind was far more memorable."
He was also behind Oblivion, you know…
This isn't really open ended, though; it's open like an MMO is, with a series of hubs with a bunch of sidequests (and usually a longer quest for the area), and a main quest that threads them together; you can't really go anywhere, because higher level area monsters effectively act as boundaries.
The story is fine, but…
What @avclub-751aba6c2e6c52a659661171026ceef3:disqus said; "single player MMO" is exactly how I'd describe it.
There are some pretty interesting concepts in the background, but they're rendered in the most workmanlike way possible; it's also so scared to death of seeming too creative, it slathers everything with a…
@avclub-751aba6c2e6c52a659661171026ceef3:disqus : Rubber tree!
The steam version also fixed the difficulty spikes on the meat circus, which was the main gripe most people (who actually played it) had with the game.

@avclub-fbb2edb68e804720ff2593eff56ae190:disqus - I've only been able to catch him live since I moved to the UK, eight or so years ago.
And the new muppets movie!
Of all the times I've seen him play, only seen him play that song a couple of times… both some of my favorite live experiences ever. Old testament doesn't even begin to describe his guitar playing on it.
Bill Condon has his roots in genre stuff, so it's not really surprising he'd make compelling horror fare. Too bad it had to be this, though.
(also - gods and monsters was produced by Clive Barker!)
Fritz Leiber - the man could write. I know his stuff is widely considered to be classic, but he's far less widely read than he should be. Is that because he (much like Moorcock) had a sense of humor, I wonder?
Fuck you, kupo
^^ This. I kind of liked their second one as well, even if it seemed to be trying to hard to sound like The Editors at times.
Sure, it's justified from the setting's point of view. It's also the direction they chose to take, inspired by very successful linear games that prioritize spectacle over all else.
The thing is, they didn't bother having gameplay threaded though it - you spend the first few hours of the game in corridors barely having…
I think tolerance for FF characters strongly depends on tolerance for Anime tropes; I have none, so I pretty much can't stand any of them. Fang was ok-ish, I guess, though Sazh was the only one that I found remotely likeable (despite the game's desperate attempts to shoehorn him into the pathetic comic sidekick role).…
Hey, I completely agree. But previous games in the series had the decency to give you some room to explore the systems and the world instead of shuttling you from one cutscene to the next as quickly as possible.
This new one is peppered with horrible, horrible pop numbers that would make an Eurovision contest entrant cringe… and they pop up in-game during exploration. What the fuck, square?
