Somewhat oddly, I find myself thinking a lot about The Shield in relation to last night’s finale. I’ve heard that Christopher’s  issues with the LOTR movies was less about the quality and more about the fact that the WB got the rights to make the movie for next to nothing in the 70s in a deal that didn’t require any sort of profit share with the Tolkien estate.
