Just remembered, BMW M-cars used to (still?) have a variable redline that illuminated until the engine was properly warm.

Maybe its the auto trans that makes a difference.   

My wife’s 2008 outback locks out the S# mode (sport sharp, most aggressive throttle/ shifts) and displays a little blue LED next to the temp gauge until it reaches a certain temperature. It also slows the HVAC until it reaches that temp. So its not unheard of.

I really wish this story was more electrifying, but it was just a short one. At least it was hot off the presses.

Technically, those BFG all-terrains meet the winter service criteria and get the 3PMSF (three-peak mountain snowflake) logo on the sidewall, similar to dedicated winter tires.   They are also studdable in some sizes.
