This article explains perfectly why FFVI is the height of the series and still the best FF made. They have never come even close to the emotional depth and compelling story of this one in any of them sense.

I missed a lot from the beginning as I only woke up and tuned in right as Aerith was being put in the water after being stabbed (10+ years is long enough this doesn’t need a spoiler alert anymore right?). Great run though and kept me entertained during the first half of my work day on Saturday.
