I don't think $500 is unreasonable for what you are getting. If you want a budget dual-core Tablet for $250, there are several to choose from. If you want the fastest Android tablet on the market, it just isn't going to be that cheap.

Pretty lame, but this kinda crap never surprises me. It's definitely something you should attribute to the phone makers and carriers though, and NOT Android, as it isn't part of Android at all natively. Makes me really glad I always run rooted ROMs though.
