I'll have to watch it again. Must have missed it.

I’m going to assume that the Mother is not dying, because what kids are total assholes to their dad about him telling them the story about how he met their mother just a couple years after her tragic death?

Yeah, I didn't like when it was done on Martha's departure episode, either. I was actually surprised when it didn't happen in "Journey's End."

I don't think that would have worked for Rose because she was so important to the series post-revival, but I agree that it would have been interesting to see how their separation affected the Doctor in a full story. The Doctor very rarely gets time to dwell on having to say goodbye to his companions. I think the

"Doomsday" was the first episode of Doctor Who to make me cry. And it certainly was not the last.

Did the Doctor ever say anything about having a grandchild before this in the modern series? I don't remember if he did. I feel like the thing about how he used to be a dad was meant to be a tip of the hat to classic fans, but also was supposed to kind of blow newer fans minds.

From the beginning it's seemed like Peter Capaldi's Doctor would sort of parallel William Hartnell's. With every shred of detail we get about his first season that seems more and more likely.

I'm doubtful too, but it'd be a neat way to kick off the Doctor's new cycle of regenerations.

A whole season fifty years ago! The Doctor wasn't very likable back then, either. And plenty of time has passed for offscreen character development.

Yeah, so Bates definitely killed his first wife.

I am SO hoping Susan shows up, regenerates, and joins the TARDIS crew.

I have, it's just kind of weird that it's been on almost every What's On Tonight of the past week.

Eleven, I think.

What's with The AV Club's sudden fascination with The This Old House Hour?

The characters didn't know that, though. They spend a hundred pages trying to figure out what it is. Harry and Ron have to have Hermione explain exactly what it does to them, despite Ron having grown up in the Wizarding World and the legends existing in the Muggle world.

I think it's a good cast. Mara is great for Sue. Teller might be a bit too young looking for Reed, but they could easily throw a fleck of grey in his hair and that's that.

It's really not that surprising to me that Rowling's writing detective novels now, because pretty much every Harry Potter book was a mystery story. What's the philosopher's stone and who wants it? What's the Chamber of Secrets, where is it, who's trying to open it? Who's Sirius Black, why does he want to kill Harry

It's amazing how well things go at Downton when Robert's away.

Added them to my Netflix queue. Thanks for the details.

I had never even HEARD of The Decalogue before you mentioned it.
