This is exactly right. These games all need Dark Souls saving. No undoing mistakes, but also no losing progress.

Right, I can see how the save system would be apart of the game design, but as a dad, I can also see how this might be very frustrating.

Exactly.  I don’t want to cheat the system, but I am a father with two young children.  I often can only squeeze in small periods of play, and even those are constantly interrupted.  

We don’t need to save. REAL Gamerz don’t let real life ever interrupt multiple-hour play sessions. Kids, family, jobs, dinner, chores, sleep, medical issues...none of that exists in the GAME ZONE.

Yeah, a temporary “save and quit” save is something that every game needs really. It’s convenient and doesn’t create the save/load possibility. More standard on portable systems, and I’ve always thought console games need it too.

Came here to say just this.  I don’t need to be able to undo a gameplay mistake, I just need to be able to turn off and do other things.

Exactly. For this sort of game removing the quick save/quick load stuff makes sense when you don’t want players to play that way, I fall into the habbit of saving before doing anything and when it doesn’t go my way I quick load until it does.
