Um... what idiot didn’t bother reading the article to notice that these problems, such as the infernal stuttering, happen whether or not ray tracing is on?

Nope. Textures do not increase the load in a system. If your GPU has enough RAM to load textures there is no difference.
Yeah, I doubt they’ll be able to. Sony bought them for Ratchet and Spideman, partly, but I think also in part to lock down the VR games onto PSVR2. It’ll probably get a PC release, eventually, down the line, like other first party games, but...you know.
While I agree with much of what you’ve said, your Insomniac analogy is TERRIBLE, largely because even though YOU think of their PS titles (Ratchet, Spiderman, Resistance if you go a bit further, Spyro if you’re old-school), and I like those plenty, they they also have a ton of non-ps titles, from the recent excellent…
I continue to be flabbergasted that the new overlords have decided that the best thing to do with an incredible network is absolutely ruin it for tax write-offs.
Or, and I can see that you’re struggling with this: I don’t need to find a way to enjoy the exploitative game mechanisms for a game I enjoyed, but am happy to move on from.
While you can, in fact, enjoy the game in the free state, each battle-pass is adding GREAT cards, and you either have to buy it to get them, or grind it out in the hopes of getting one or two of the new cards. That’s fine enough, I guess, but you can’t even do that for this new season, with ALL the cards hidden behind…

Honestly, it’s almost refreshing. I played the game, I enjoyed it, there is no way that I’m paying $120/yr for it, so I can safely remove it from my phone.
Honestly, this news means nothing to me.
My favorite part is absolutely Panda saying that they had no idea, and didn’t play any part in any of this...oh, except for their CEO engaging in some...unseemly behavior...
It’s shader compilation, AND it is very single-threaded, AND Denuvo, AND it’s got optimization problems (xbox version is worth than PS5, and shares some of the PC issues).
Oh no! Say the devs, is everyone giving us cash for a particular skin? How could we possibly have predicted they would pay for a matte black skin that makes them essentially invisible? Let’s think about that for a second while more people rush to give us money, and then when we have reached saturation, we’ll nerf it…
I largely agree, but you will never convince me that the combat ever rose above serviceable. It’s clunky and then eventually becomes easy in a very boring way. There is no room for experimentation or skill, but rather the boring timed clicking of the mouse. Ugh. At least in the beginning of the game, it’s sort-of…
They made The Name of the Rose a gorgeous manuscript, and I am thrilled about it.
So, again, I think we’re largely in agreement. But I also don’t think that the other characters/shows were the problem. TBoBF did indeed have an entire episode given up to Mando, but it was also one of the best episodes—because it focused on a character doing interesting character stuff. Boba Fett tried to…
I don’t disagree, but The Mandalorian was EXCELLENT in S1, but grew more and more tedious, and the book of Boba Fett was terrible. These had essentially the same writers, so what happened? Well, Mando S1 was largely NOT a piece of fanfiction, instead focusing on a main character with no real connection to other major…
I also didn’t really like Rogue One, for largely the same reasons. The plot was scattered and dumb, and Jyn didn’t really make much sense. Ultimately, it was a movie that didn’t tell us anything that we didn’t already know, or have any real reason to exist (except for the cool ending fight scenes, and a few…
It absolutely makes sense to set an MMO in that world, but I could not be any less interested in taking a fun action adventure and turning it into a grind-fest where the combat is dictated by managing cooldowns, rather than movement and skill.
Look, I’m an English Professor, so I have a lot of love for the Indoctrination reading—it does what we love best, which is to apply a close reading of what is there, and what is between the lines to explore something in a new and interesting way. It does an EXCELLENT job of pointing to these incongruities, and it does…
