On Delta, I would just book my ticket into Comfort+ if possible — you’re guaranteed bin space. I fly with a bright orange Pelican AIR 1535 and have never had a problem on most of Delta’s fleet with it in the bins, and C+ basically means I can snag a bin fast and early.
