The tire manufacturers actually specify that you should go with the car maker’s recommended PSI. The number on the tire itself is the upper limit of what that tire can safely handle, not necessarily the pressure that you should be running it at.

Be careful out there; vary from the recommended pressure by even half a psi, and this could be your car crashing.
