IIRC my first loan in the 90's was in the 8% range. I think prime rates back then were still up there. Savings accounts were still paying meaningful rates. This 0-4% stuff is a really recent phenomenon.

My last car purchase was pretty damn close to “buying on the internet”. Rare car so I went a state away to get what I wanted.
