I don’t necessarily see this as a trick. Obviously if you are saving money for something specific you are spending less than you earn. But I do agree that the first step is earning more than you spend, but that is the first step to most things financially sound.
I do something similar, but I have found that as the one account grows I don’t really want to take anything out of it (even if I was saving for something specific). I think I like seeing the balance.

I don’t have a chance with this one. We probably eat out 3/4 Fridays a month with some friends, so it won’t be close. However, I do bring my lunch most days, so there is that.
As long as your house still has POTS line, you can plug a phone into the jack and it should allow 911 calling, even without phone service.
I had switched up my plan earlier this year to get cheaper and to get onto T-Mobile’s kickback program (saving an extra $10/line when the line doesn’t go over 2GB).
Or more than doubles the cost if you were on the home 2-10 computer plan. The yearly cost of 2 computers is only slightly less than up-to 10 on the previous home plan.
4 10s is what a lot of nurses get to do.
Are you changing bulbs that frequently that you are worried about permanently marking them?
I know it isn’t clothes related, but why have LEGOs been separated into two isles at stores like Target and Wal-mart?
