In the Underhyped Apps, I definitely agree with OneNote. That is one program that I should probably use more than I do. Bins looks interesting. I have looked at Chocolatey, but just haven't found the need.

I think it depends on the age of the person you are giving the gift. If they are older they may appreciate you not opening the box, but if they are younger they may just want to play.
