And if they aren't familiar with weight training then this book Starting Strength: Basic Barbell Training is a good place for them to start. It will help them with form and techniques for the big five barbell workouts: squat, bench, deadlift, power clean, and military press.

True, but when the dvr messes up or can only record 2 shows and there are 3 overlapping there are problems. I like sidereel.com that LH covered a while back. It is web based so I can use my computer / tablet / phone.
The real question is why do you want to switch? I subscribe to the right tool for the job philosophy and Linux has it's place. But if you want to game it is not the OS you want.
