Ouch! I anticipated these problems and backed up my whole user directory before re-installing when playing GTAIV. I would think MS would require GFW certified games to put save data in the Saved Games folder in the users directory. That's pretty lame of them not to.

It's not GFWL, just GFW. The game uses Steamworks for all online stuff.

Your first complaint has nothing to do with GFWL. The game designers decide where and how to store save game data. I can totally see that second thing being a serious issue though.
