@Hatebunny: Everything good has come out by now. The holidays themselves are relatively slow for video game releases.
@jezz.torrent: What other genres are there besides simulation, which has a relatively limited player base.
@Metal Keir Solid: Super Mario Galaxy 2 may be a great game, but it pales in comparison to the likes of Mass Effect 2.
@Kipper49576: They aren't on their way out. They're huge in Japan. I've never seen an American/European shooter win GOTY in any Japanese publications.
@Xaxir: Reach, ME2 and Red Dead were legitimately excellent games. I would go as far as to say that ME2 was the best game of the year.
@The Squid: Answering your first question; Mass Effect 2 was probably one of the best games ever made. Halo was really good also, and I've heard fantastic things about Red Dead. I don't think it's just hype, I think these are legitimately good games. A lot of people seem to have this attitude where they don't like…
@Sloopydrew: I played som GoW at a friends house (I don't own a PS3. A gaming PC and a 360 are more than enough). It seemed really good, but I wasn't blown away like I was with Mass Effect 2 (PC) or Halo Reach (360).
Wow, I have every game on that Game of the Year list except God of War III, and 2 of them on my PC.
@Vecha: Kotaku Friends work like the Stock Market: You didn't think Mass Effect 2 was as good as the original? I thought it was better.
@comtar: But the iPhone isn't a serious gaming platform. It's best for quick titles you play for 30 minutes while you wait for the bus, not 30 hour RPG's like on the PSP/DS.
@ShinoBoy: If it's like Doom Resurrection, it's all on rails, and the camera takes you by items that you can pick up. (sometimes you have to be fast). You could also press a button to temporarily dodge left or right.
@MightyMonk: Actually our eyes can see much higher than 30 FPS, even higher than 60 FPS.
@Herabek: Not really. I run a Phenom II X4 965 (just below the 970 up there at 3.4GHz).
Why the f*** would I play a shooter on the PC with a controller?
Carriers can tell when your tethering.
So that's why the Stormtroopers in Star Wars are such bad shots. They're aiming with iPhone controls!
@Marand: When I was referring to multiple desktops I actually meant virtual desktops. They're non-existent. There are some 3rd party apps that add it, but it's not nearly as slick as any of the solutions you get with Compiz.
@Marand: Javascript? Really?
