The more of the stories about this kind of thing come out, the more I’m convinced that there’s more than just a professional dislike between them - I get the feeling it’s a matter of a complete rejection of ever working with Byrne again at that level based on their past issues.

If Byrne was an “I don’t play the old stuff” guy that would make sense but he played the old stuff 8 times a week for several years recently. I loved Graham! Dude elevated every scene he was in. I know Yaz got a little better, but I would have loved to see the Doctor fuck about with an old dude as the main companion for a season. Graham was great!

I’m not sure Smith was as high profile as he’d have liked since his film career seems to have fizzled unless you count the tour de force performance in the blockbuster It’s Morbin’ Time.

He’s had some good TV roles, though.

The director and writer for F&WS should’ve just went with the fan theory that they had to rewrite much of the show on the fly because it originally was about the Flag Smashers releasing a virus and starting a pandemic. They debunked that, and even noted they did minimal rewrites, which were just a few scenes to flesh…

My tinfoil hat is telling me that Secret Invasion was actually written by AI and Sam Jackson and Don Cheadle each got 200 mil for the NDA. 

If one is going to write about Owen’s leading man street cred then Croupier needs to be mentioned. Especially given its roots in film noir.

I will forever maintain that Broadchurch is massively overrated, and what it did have going for it was in spite of Chibnall, not because of him.

He wanted Broadchurch S2 to be a deliberately unsatisfying story where the killer gets acquitted at trial. Except the first season had set up such clearly unbeatable evidence against him that the only way to do it was to turn every single person into an idiot.
