Thank you for reminding me that that is happening. It 100% makes up for the fact that “Titans” exists.

Chaka Khan lemme rock ya, that’s all I wanna do.

Ah, someone else who saw the Pasolini adaption of the Canterbury Tales...

Dude, Tom has written not one but two articles about Blade: one for this series and one for “A History of Violence”

Since next week’s column is going to be From Hell, doing Watchmen for 2009 seems like a lock if we get there.

Yeah, it’s kinda insane. Jackman circa X1/X2 was an extremely good looking man in good if not great shape. Jackman circa DoFP was, uh. Let’s go to the tape here:

I dunno man. I went to see Avatar on the strength of the rest of his films (which are, to be clear, awesome) but I walked out of it thinking that James Cameron had, finally, made a bad action movie.

Betcha that Pitchfork would let “thedissolve.com” go for very little money...

I’ve been, god help me, posting here long enough that I remember the AVclub’s pre-disqus, in-house comment system.

Eh? I mean, every death is a tragedy, but the man was 90 years old, leaves behind a body of work that will be known for generations to come, and lived the majority of his life relentlessly (some might say pathologically) on his own terms. Death comes for us all, but may we all shine half as brightly in the meantime as

I hear the slot of EPA Commissioner is open...

As far as anyone could ever determine, the answer was “no”. He would occasionally still make noises as if it was an ongoing project in the 80s and 90s, and Christopher Priest turned up a few people who claimed that Ellison had offered to buy their stories for it as recently as 1994 or so, but as far as anyone actually

YES DOCTOR ORPHEUS IS BACK!!!

Oh yay, so “The Last Dangerous Visions” will continue to live under his bed in a box in perpetuity.

There’s a level of consistent craftsmanship that raises even his most tossed-off material above “bad”, but I’m thinking very few people are reaching for their copy of N.E.W.S. when it comes time to put on some jams or even when they’re feeling like exploring his deep cuts.

Good.

That’s a genuinely weird argument to make. I fucking love The Who, but... production is the death of musical talent? We’re talking about the same band that made Tommy (produced by Kit Lambert) and Quadraphenia (credited to four producers including Lambert, and the band built their own recording studio for it because

I have to assume that Netflix provided the whole series to reviewers this time specifically to fend off that kind of embarrassment.

Shades is awesome. He’s a Donald Westlake heavy — a guy who knows he’s a criminal, knows how to be good at it, and just wants to do crimes and make money — but he’s stuck inside a Marvel Comics story with insane over-the-top monologuing super-villains and it kills him that they won’t just let him hench in peace.
