H.A.M.’s instructions are perfect. It’s the homemade version of the Wick Fowler’s 2 Alarm Chili mix I suggested in a previous article. And yes, if you’ve got a decent spice rack and the fresh ingredients around - go for it!

(You can buy seven pounds at a time at a restaurant supply store, which is the amount A.A. Newton gave me for my birthday.)

“...early 00's Ford F150 personified...”

Except for people with very specialized needs (like hauling around a Chinese electric microcar in the bed of a pickup), I tend to agree.

This Might Be the End of Dealer Showrooms

The longer this dumpster fire of a conservative dystopia goes on, the more & more a Czechoslovakian-style Velvet Divorce” seems the only way forward. Just let me sell my house to a MAGA-hat wearing sucker and move out of Jesusland peacefully.

The amount of systemic racism revealed by conservatives these last four years is the cherry on top of the Trump/MAGA sh*t sundae...

So a win-win, then ? 😁

You need to tell Claire where, exactly. She shouldn’t be deprived of this delicacy...

Asking for asylum because your president is a douchebag dipped in spray tan isn’t a valid application reason.

I mean really, can you blame them ? Our Federal gov’t is being run like an inept crime family organization by a narcissistic reality TV host. Like the meme I’ve seen so often says, “Canadians must feel like they live in an apartment over a meth lab.”

Some of these recipes sound really good! But my favorite chili (real, old fashioned Texas style) isn’t hard. Its history, and some really old recipes, can be found in A Bowl of Red by newspaperman Frank X. Tolbert. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006SI1A34/

Your side is obviously being disagreed with (which ultimately is something humans can’t get away from). The solution is blindingly obvious:

I’m a native born Texan, and both sides of my family are from the Old South several generations back. This part of the country has had a hard-on for a Confederacy ver. 2.0 since the old one fell.

Duke’s is the best “regular, grocery store mayo”. Tho’ Blue Plate will do in a pinch.

Yup. e.g.

Ahhh...good ol’ American Exceptionalism. Except we aren’t “all that” in reality. Other countries have better healthcare outcomes, more general overall happiness ratings from their citizens, are more free from hunger, oppression, and fear...

The whole idea of the article (you did read it, yes ?) is how this makes people more capable and productive during their workday. The “Puritan Work Ethic” is a sham. It’s productivity “theater”.

And people in Latin American cultures know this. But here in the U.S., I’m afraid the Puritan Work Ethic is too deeply ingrained for this to become a thing. More’s the pity...

This is exactly what I needed to read today! Thanks, Claire.
