Or you know he had a subscription to Popular Mechanics in the 1990s?

Sorry, will it sound better if I say it while smoking a blunt on a radio talk show?

“His particular vision” yeah, sounds very Apple-ish to me. Never flat-out saying they invented something, but hyping it as if they did, and many ignorant people believe it.

You are not an engineer or a geologist or an expert at tunnel boring or even a comprehensive Reasoner.

It’s a proof of concept.

Lane widening does nothing. It is a proven non-starter because it just laterally expands existing issues. Shoring up infrastructure means things like dedicated bus lanes (non-existent), trains (held back due to funding issues), and expanded benefits to things like carpooling. Many of these things can even be done

There are loads of other ideas and they’re all “why don’t we shore up existing infrastructure” but nobody likes those ideas because they’re not “exciting bullshit” like a super-tunnel.

using 4 machines in 1 tunnel

The bigger picture is Musk looking for ways to convert public money to private profits? Isn’t that his thing?

Elon Musk couldn’t get any less realistic if he suggested flying helicopters (a la Mission Impossible) thru this tunnel would solve a transportation issue.

You are 90 years too late.

Elon’s whole work life is a series of distractions from actually fixing real problems. That’s the honest truth. Anybody that looks at the CO2 from building the monster Tesla batteries or the ongoing operating losses from the “super successful SpaceX” comes to the same conclusion.

Why try to convince thousands of people to pay $1,000 each and you still have to make a successful product when you can “convince” a handful of politicians to give you billions and you get to take the money even if the project falls flat on its face (which it will)

I just patented Helicopter Tunnels. Nice.

But they’re disrupting boring technology!! With... an old used boring machine... but they’re doing it...

I propose a ‘light’ rail system of smaller cars, 2-4 occupants per car, to travel alongside existing highways. It will be remarkably modern, using gravity propulsion to achieve near zero emissions.

“OK, let’s think outside the box: what if we charged $1000 per use, and say the tunnel is only compatible with Tesla roadsters?”

Its all about the DISRUPTION, MAAAAN! You don’t get what Elon is trying to do here!

The Boring company sounds like a little kid trying to make his dad seem cool. Any time a better option is mentioned, they up their claims whether they are realistic, or necessary, or not.
