I’m not really worried about Sony buying Alamo from an anti-trust point of view. They only have 36 theaters so it’s not Sony can wield their might and not show their movies elsewhere or only show Sony movies at their theater. If Disney bought AMC, that would be a bigger anti-trust problem since AMC is a much bigger

I seem to remember a cool little network of blogs that was struggling for years to find a devoted userbase and dozens of talented writers until a kindly old group of billionaires stepped in to help them out. And that little network of blogs, whom nobody liked, grew up to be... sold off piece by piece until maybe one

The thing is, a company only gets sold to a PE firm if it’s already fucked up. So you’re kinda looking a sample set that’s already headed for failure.

NYC moviegoers still have Nighthawk.

He also thinks Tom Cruise is a fun guy so I think his credulousness is pretty well proven

Can we lock him in a room with Ted Cruz?

She got signed to a label at 17, released an EP that nobody paid attention to in 2017, and has been putting out music and touring for almost a decade.

My stance is that I may as well believe in Will Smith. If I’m wrong, nothing happens, and if I’m right, I’ll enjoy the full glory of the Willennium.

I know you were being hilarious and cheeky with the comment, but Six Degrees of Separation is pretty damn close, though I wouldn’t call it a gay comedy, I imagine that genre is reserved to the premise revolving around someones sexuality, like In & Out or The Birdcage, or Bros.

Most people did not care about the Slap.

The average person has no idea which streamers each movie goes to... there is simply still a huge audience for Will Smith and the Bad Boys franchise.

Hold on, ya’ll told me streaming was killing the movies. You also said the pandemic took people out of the habit of going to movie theaters. And that the strike killed the box office. So how the fuck did the fourth movie in a 30-year-old franchise starring The Slapper overperform to a $52 million opening? 😂

Chappell Roan is phenomenal and I’m so happy to see her finding success after lots of setbacks and toiling in obscurity for years.

I wish he would make more straight comedies, I’d see so much more of his stuff.

Bad Boys 4 beating expectations is absolutely the headline, but the biggest shock might be Furiosa dropping out of the top 5. Even Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes hung in there (and is doing pretty well! Just saw that it has surpassed the previous movie’s domestic gross already).

She’s legit. A college classmate said she was in school with her and she was always entering talent shows. Her music is really good. From what I hear, the original release of the album was delayed due to COVID and she was doing really underground shows for a long time. She couldn’t afford a makeup artist or anything.

I just...don’t know what the fuck Seinfeld is on about. Dude never was in any danger of being too fucking edgy, blue, or controversial. I’ve not seen a single thing that approaches even the tamer parts of a Bill Burr or Patton Oswalt show.

Admittedly I’ve dramatically walked off the job before so I understand the headspace he was in. It just seems so wild from a guy whose image is so pre-meditated.

That’s true I honestly like Will Smith and all

Most of the early HW founders came from either vaudeville or the garment business IIRC.
