From the comedic stylings of the man who brought you G.I. Jane.

“I got fired from another job yesterday,” he says. “There I was all set to go to a movie, jump on a plane ... I’ve been talking with these guys for months and they told me yesterday we don’t want to do the film with you because of this... There is just this torrent of people attacking me who don’t know the facts.”

It’s really not.

And this is for the best.

Aren’t you supposed to get therapy and admit your wrong doing?

Rock said returning to the award ceremony would be like asking Nicole Brown Simpson “to go back to the restaurant.”

I agree! We really need to think about what we mean when discuss restorative justice and atonement how we want that to play out. If abuser feel like redemption is hopeless why try?

I weirdly don’t believe him? I guess I am old enough to have remembered the rumors of his dad’s behavior when he was on Even Stevens. It seems like he knows if he can redeem his dad he can be redeemed for his own behavior or something. The whole thing seems odd.

“Not saying he should have killed her, but I understand.” -Chris Rock

I mean, the very fact that Taylor Swift has had such a heavily publicized struggle with her past manager for the masters of her past music undermines this, no?

While I think you’re right that it seems she’s selectively forgetting there were some pretty serious mental health related incidents that led to the situation, I think it’s also pretty clear her family saw her breakdown as a moment to seize control, and exerted that control to abusive degrees, and for a duration much

Considering the horror stories that come out about some young band or singer-songwriter signing terrible contracts that screw them for decades, whatever “inauthenticity” they pick up for meeting with lawyers and accountants is immediately more than made up for by “smart.”

Considering she was chased by dozens of paparazzi everywhere she went, I don‘t think she was acting particularly weird at all.

why would having a lawyer or accountant make you inauthentic?

Just, like...any opportunity to be a dick, huh?

Britney has these wild weird instagram moments, and then these extreme moments of clarity. And honestly, the whole obsession with her being “unwell” feeds into the whole narrative of cure culture. Perhaps this is as “well” as Britney gets, and that’s ok, because at least she’s free from being forced to do things

People absolutely deserve a chance to make changes and move forward in a different direction in their life.

I, admittedly, haven’t listened to the interview/chat, and only know what’s involved based off of the article here, but... man, some of y’all are impossible to please.

the dude is openly acknowledging the hurt he did and saying that he’s trying to become a better person. he seems as though he’s fairly self-aware of

I’m not sure he can. Celebs who became famous as kids often end up becoming addicted to their own fame. The kicks they get from recognition and exposure makes it extremely difficult to stay away; their brain has essentially become hardwired to require being in the public sphere.

Beyond further proving Olivia Wilde is incapable of not straddling a fence on an issue or a topic even dealing with actors, yikes to the Florence Pugh comments in this one
