I haven’t watched it since it came out but I had read that criticism going in and remember disagreeing with it as I was watching. IIRC the jokes were very woven into the narrative structure but there were still jokes throughout the whole thing.

I have complicated feelings about it, but it definitely had jokes.
It doesn’t seem like enough material for a feature length?.. Maybe they’ll add the real life meta twist and make it about an author concocting a viral tale about two easily identifiable subjects.
“Sticky” in content terms usually applies to something that keeps the users on the site. For Netflix, it’s probably something that’s watched all the way through (vs users bailing within the first 2 mins) or something users keep returning to multiple times.
I had to chuckle at the lack of self awareness here, especially since I saw it right after seeing the IATSE video where he gets called out.
Oh Elon Musk was definitely worse as a host, but him being uncharismatic was not exactly a surprise.
I didn’t know what to expect but I didn’t think she’d be this unconfident/uncharismatic. She’s constantly been on camera for what, 10 years now?
Cher? System of a Down?
I’ve been rewatching it and Lorelai is kinda written to be Jewish, which obviously makes no sense given the character’s background. Lauren Graham does a good job of bridging that gap because it should’ve been absolute cringe. There’s a Fiddler on the Roof episode that had me particularly baffled.
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Nothing about it should’ve worked for me on paper.
I always think of it as watching an actor disappear into the character vs. you as the audience member disappearing into their character. The latter is arguably less flashy but it’s definitely its own skill.
They’re all classic leading actors; it’s just a different acting skill (that’s probably actually more rare?)
I haven’t seen it but I’ve heard this from multiple people now — including the person I saw The Lion King remake with.
The most common trend with the white people we interacted with was that they or their spouse had been stationed in Hawaii at some point and decided to return.
I think it’s a relationship steeped in jealousy on both ends — which can read as sexual but doesn’t have to be
I’m guessing if they were conducting any sort of autopsy as part of the investigation it would be done in Oahu.
The Native Hawaiian / Pacific Islander population in Hawaii is only around 10%. A hotel having mostly non-Hawaiian workers — and white workers in customer-facing positions specifically -- scans for me from personal experience.
That’s funny; she was Joshua Jackson’s love interest on Dawson’s Creek for a blip
I read an interview with another actor a few years ago who mentioned talking to Will Smith about this. And that he was told he wouldn’t be an international draw but he knew it wasn’t true just from him touring doing music. So he basically used his Fresh Prince money to fly himself around and promote his projects…
