I think they most likely knew but thought it would blow over; this isn’t the first time something like this happened — but then it turned into a huge story that could hurt their bottom line with advertisers so they fired him.
Is “I was always a mad tv guy” supposed to be a Ms Swan reference?
In my recollection, they fool around while blackout drunk but never address it when sober.
I read the book and thought the same thing re: Boris and Everything Is Illuminated. Some people seem to love the character, but to me he never transcended hacky (and maybe borderline offensive?) caricature.
I read her ex-friend’s piece in The Cut yesterday, which prompted me to look up some background info on what exactly she did, but now I’m no closer to figuring out why she’s worth writing about — it’s such a low-level, insipid grift.
I had planned on hate-watching BH90210 but then I actually...liked it? It’s pretty charming, super watchable, and nails the tone in that it’s self-aware without being pointlessly mean or awkward.
Having recently watched his Comedians in Cars, I’m setting my expectations low...
I would also guess that pre-social media, artists had an impetus to use the VMAs to do something shocking if they were inclined to do so. Now there’s no reason to wait around when you have other platforms available 24/7.
This is just embarrassing.
I definitely took it as a flashback, albeit from Cliff’s POV that’s definitely flattering to Cliff (he also gets told he’s too hot to be a stuntman in the same scene, for instance).
These movies always come off as pathetic displays of masculinity, and then this news comes out. Cherry on top, but totally unsurprising.
I thought it was a flashback; my friend interpreted it as Cliff daydreaming about being on set the way Rick imagines being in The Great Escape.
That line’s a clunker no matter who says it. *Checks IMDB for writers* Uh oh...
I watched the first episode and didn’t particularly enjoy it (I remember laughing exactly once). Does it get better or is it pretty much consistent?
At least she only had a few lines. They really should’ve gotten real voice actors for all the lions & hyenas.
I went in expecting to be creeped out by expressionless animals, but instead I found that it was the voice acting that was really lacking. They definitely knew talking animals were on the creepy side and stuck to a lot of wide shots, but there’s not much you can do to compensate for flat voice acting. Also, I never…
Kids at my screening seemed too scared/confused by the death scenes and only really excited about Hakuna Matata.
I’d like to see another season because this one ended with a whimper. I don’t quite get why the BTS stuff is such a huge controversy though — isn’t that what TV directing is? They’re all just hired guns...
I don’t think she should’ve ever been cast, but I would also expect that any/most funding the movie had was contingent on her starring in it.
