I think all of that is true — but to me, he was a rich character they didn’t do nearly enough with. We know the source of his anger, but a lot of the individual actions are unexplained and I don’t really buy him continuously coming back to Rory for any reason other than guilt, and even that’s gotta have an expiration

At his best, Jess was the voice of the audience. At his worst, he was someone constantly acting irrationally or at least with motivations that were never explained

Given Rory’s Harvard obsession, she’d be applying early decision so it would make sense for her to only apply to one school and then only apply to others if she got rejected. But they never mention that either, so the rest of the show’s college talk still doesn’t make sense.

Rory is basically the poster child for why you should never call your kid “smart” — she’s completely unable to deal with failure. Prior to this, I think Jess was the only person who questioned whether she’s suited for the job and her answer didn’t inspire much confidence. But since she didn’t even get the internship

Agreed; I just thought it was odd that they framed the revival as “Rory can’t adjust to the new way of doing things” when this was all already happening when she first started.

Wasn’t it already a bad time to be a journalist when this aired? I was in college at the time and I remember thinking it was a career choice that could only work for someone with a trust fund. All my journalism friends were taking unpaid internships and free online writing gigs to hopefully become better candidates

I might be misremembering but aren’t Tristan and Logan basically the same type of “smart”, i.e., they could do well if they bothered to do any work, but instead they just endlessly get in trouble? And I never got the sense that Rory was interested in Tristan in any way, other than maybe being curious as to why he was

I don’t dislike these episodes — I may have chuckled when Rory got knocked down a peg  — but they do underline what’s always bothered me about the characterization of the Logan relationship: she went to a super fancy prep school (not a boarding school, but still). She’s been around guys like Logan for years,

The “reforms” (as pushed by US advisors) are what made the Russian economy collapse, which is what made way for Putin.

I wasn’t ever a regular viewer, but I remember catching it and being surprised by how homophobic/transphobic a lot of the jokes were. At one point we started counting and it was every other joke.

I have a whole bunch of these, the most played of which is Gilmore Girls. When I worked from home, I always started my day with an episode in the background while I drank my coffee and caught up on emails, for maybe three years straight. I tried switching to 90210 at some point, but only the first few seasons are

Shia LaBeouf for me — and I was at the taping!

I saw it and liked it, but you’re not wrong...

I don’t actually like Chris, but I’ve always preferred him to Luke. Luke’s tendency to totally shut down and refuse to communicate — especially when targeted at someone as verbal as Lorelai — has always felt emotionally manipulative (if not abusive) to me.

As someone who LOVES snow, I find it relatable, but agree that her snow outfits never match her enthusiasm. Where are all her puffy jackets and snow pants and waterproof gloves?!

RIP goldfish

Same for me. Although the Six Feet Under elevator death has scarred me for life so I refuse to step into any elevator that’s not completely level.

Oh great, she’s back...

Aside from the wasted revival time, I sort of find Logan’s character to be more distasteful than the rest of the LDAB because he has maturity and self-awareness, so his behavior feels more like an active choice.

I think they go through a lot of last-minute changes so they might often be seeing the lines for the first time. They’re discouraged from memorizing for this reason. I feel like it’s been obvious for a while though...
