Words with built-in punctuation are annoying. My eyes kept telling me your first sentence was "However will E!" and I had to start over two or three times. Awkward. (That's a regular "awkward" with a regular sentence period—this is exhausting!)

You have laid it out very well here. Come to think of it, even a small *comedic* beat might have worked there—funny at least for us, though not for the characters. I'm visualizing their collective attempt at passing a glass of water from one set of hands to the other with no touching, while at the same time trying to
