Does the "World's Greatest Dad" mug have any HOLES in it?
Does the "World's Greatest Dad" mug have any HOLES in it?
Yeah, but she's kind of turned into someone to whom stuff happens*—at most, she reacts to it. I would love to see her proactive and not just pissy.
Interesting! I think this depends on what we consider the bread-and-butter of the show, the stuff that it can fill many episodes with. At the moment, my best guess is that the show's staple is "Barry tries to get his brother to enact a progressive reform"—and if Barry himself ascends to the presidency, the show would…
Moran Atias. She's gorgeous.
re: 2.: Even more bizarrely, the whole subplot didn't amount to very much at all, in the end: it provided a red herring (to me, at least) for the reason why the coup would fail, and it caused everyone to end up at the embassy rather than on the plane. All that could have been accomplished a dozen other ways, without…
1. I was relieved that the coup didn't fail BECAUSE of the daughter and the flighty aunt. For me, it was a foregone conclusion that the coup would fail, since shows rarely have the guts to let big stuff happen. But I'm glad the obstacle wasn't something infuriating like an unwisely-timed shopping trip. (I see Dennis…
!! He was so appealing on "Louie"—I have a hard time grasping that this is the same actor. Gus is the worst.
I don't recall anything that registered as a hiccup for me of that sort. Do you think they were filming around some electric box or something that would be anachronistic? (I don't even know if they film in studios or what…)
… And not just on each episode's standalone merits, but also through accretion: I'm enjoying the show more and more thanks to the accumulation of details and of my trust in it.
I'm convinced that Jamie's comment about being quiet (despite his own loudness) was an attempt to inoculate the concert scenes against just this sort of reaction on our part. Did not fully work. The talking was too loud.
It's true that this little corner of the AV Club has so far not gotten anything like the "Girls" venom or even the BB Skyler hate. It's refreshing. As to why not, not sure; but Claire has been quite easy to root for. No characters nag and whine against the show's basic premise.
I'm surprised at the number of jokes that, without my even being high, land.
There really isn't much between me and my nipples.
… provided he refrains from eating the haunted shrubbery just because his friends dare him to do so :)
A whole Strax of difference!
Me, I liked that Claire clearly held the reins of her own life. She wingmanned that other girl; she bossed Jamie around; she saved the boy; she made progress with the laird (who started off with all the power and still has a lot). Even that random dude at the table, the one who witnessed her teasing of Jamie about the…
The massage. It gave us a good interaction between Claire and the laird, and in a manner that I think is not derivative of anything. And almost every other beat had some humor in it.
Exactly. And she has so many traits already that are independent of both her husband and Jamie.
I was so relieved that Mrs. Fitz sided with Claire and not with the (one-dimensional, boring, obstructionist) priest.
"A change is as good as a rest"—Churchill, but also "Little Women," IIRC. Is the phrase even older? (Bible; Shakespeare?)
