I came late to a NPR interview about these types of places and there was someone telling their story about being shipped to this place and was very well spoken and compelling with their story. I loved Harriet the Spy so much. As a kid growing up in southwest Virginia, it gave me a peek into the world of New York. I learned what an egg cream was! I always felt sad for Harriet and Sport. Their parents were not great people.
