I wanted Vampire Hunter D for Christmas as a kid, and someone at Suncoast convinced my parents to buy this gem instead. I'm actually pretty thankful, because my buddies and I got endless enjoyment out of it.

I know that a few reviewers have mentioned that the game sometimes does a poor job of explaining some of its key features, but I didn't realize as many people would have issues with the regenerating section of the fight. Does this mean that this aspect of the boss fight suffers from poor design? I mean, I really did

After about two bouts of "Well, now he's back to full health, I guess," I decided to just start screwing around. Glad I did.

When he's walking around, just step behind him and use blade mode on his back.

My only complaint was that it took me too long to figure out how to stop him from regenerating, but that's a personal moment of stupidity more than anything else.

Kurt Kalata's incredible/terrible comic where Neclord makes an appearance still cracks me up every time I read it. If you're ever bored, check it out. It's titled "Kid Dracula in 'The Reason I became a Dancer.'" http://www.castlevaniadungeon.net/fictheater.html

Now playing

Just tap it in. Just tap it in. Give it a little tappy. Tap tap tap-a-roo.

That movie is the chief reason why I'm able to overlook James Van Der Beek's terrible accent in Varsity Blues.

Seems cool. I might have to give it a shot. Definitely a fan of that old school wizard design for the boss.

The best version of this story is mentioned on "Robot Chicken" in a scene where a man hears this news and decides to travel to the North Pole to confront Santa about it. Hilarity ensues.

No, this is totally it. A few years ago before I got into management (which I actually kind of enjoy), I was cashiering at Express. Part of the fun was trying to make the experience as pleasant as possible for the people standing in line. And cashiering the fuck out of stuff.

I work in retail (specifically luxury-ish goods), and one of the highlights of my job is helping people find great gifts for their friends or family; even better, if I can make their shopping experience more pleasant than the store they just came from, it's a double win for me.

Black Friday has gotten more and more exploitative. I don't necessarily remember if the deals were "better" or not, but I know some stores like Target would do some pretty interesting gift bags for shoppers willing to come in early the day after Thanksgiving; coupons to restaurants that were in the vicinity, things

We're moving to Olathe next month from Leawood, which means we'll have to wait even longer for them to open up options to us...

In years past, it was all about video game deals and small electronics.

My girlfriend will never, ever heat them. Drives me up a damn wall. She also takes every chance to remind me that the recommended serving size is one pastry.

Aaaaaaand it's sold out.

I always start my Dynasty mode as Indiana. I ended up going to the University of Evansville instead of a bigger school with a football program, so it gives me some little thrill to take the Hoosiers from zeros to heroes.

Pride and Prejudice actually turned me into a Jane Austen fan when I studied it for an English novel course—enough, in fact, to take an entire course on her works. It was totally worth the time and effort. When you dig into her full catalog you find a lot of entertaining social commentary.

I'd be more than willing to enjoy their current generation offerings if they'd just make something with competent gameplay and an interesting concept.
