Right. I died there a few times too. After you lift the first sacrifice, the spikes just clear. Immediately I thought that I had by chance solved the puzzle without trying. So I went for the corridor, and as soon as the camera pulled back the view, I knew I had been fooled.

Me too. I had a lot of fun with it. It was better than either the newest Resident Evil attempts, or that last Silent Hill game, and far less frustrating. I found the game to be a breeze on Survival difficulty.

The story Graveyard Shift, in Stephen Kings short story collection Night Shift.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. It honestly meets my expectations in most ways. I actually like that it's basically a Mikami's best of reel. Horror doesn't always need to be tense spook-outs like Outlast. Big, cornball horror is fine with me too. It has to be taken as it is, and despite being in the same genre…

This vehicle style did sort-of make it into the mainstream...

No shame, I really liked it, too. It was like if L.A. Noire was a lot cooler and had spacial puzzles involved in it. The guy's fedora was a bit much, but it kept the noir-ish vibe going.

Not to mention this. I know it's nowhere near as great a game, but the setup is the same.

Now playing

I know it was in a video game, but the eye surgery machine scene in Dead Space 2 was one of the most memorable moments in the last generation of horror games, for sure. Very tense.

dat rocket town...
