Ummm... that's pretty much the case in Washington, DC (my home town). Tons of fake cabs around. And the legit cabs all look different. The times I've really needed one, I ended up having to call for it. I really appreciate being able to spot a yellow cab in NYC from a distance.

One color scheme is a good idea. Makes it each to identify a cab when you're looking for one. One make is unnecessary.

I agree that it must be early 1985 since they're talking like Jobs is still with the company. Jobs was fired later that year. The article has a lot of what seem like OCR errors. Maybe this is one of them.
