Fair enough. I just disagree, but I think we've made our points.

Well, the actual Nazis were way worse than Hydra. This is, incidentally, why I'm not a big fan of reimagining WWII. Hellboy did it, too. Hitler was a big enough villain. No need for a made up story.

What? I mean, that's actually what happened in real life. The USSR and USA had a race after WWII to gobble up German scientists for their respective rocketry/nuke programs. I think the US would have been somewhat shocked to realize that Nazis were in control of the nuclear codes, for example.

Boy, that's not at all what I got from that movie. Fury was pretty surprised when Redford turned on him, and no one knew about the AI in the basement at Cap's boot camp base.

But then he helped bring down the unaccountable paramilitary organization that was infiltrated by the cult, and it's pretty clear the secrecy and lack of oversight facilitated the stealth take-over.

I think you're probably correct about Cap's place on the political spectrum, but I disagree that he was apolitical. In his prior two movies as well as the Averngers films, it's pretty clear that he's broadly liberal.

I mean, that's the problem with all of this. Civil War was very politically naive. Trying to impose Patriot Act nonsense on the superhero world was a silly idea. or, at least, not handled well.

The problem you're struggling with is that the dumb movie writers (the Civil War comic series made the same mistake) don't really understand politics.

Right, and that's silly given that Captain America adopted the exact opposite positions in the previous films.

So, Captain American is on the side of no accountability for people with superpowers? Guess the movie made the same mistake as the dumb comic books.

Other one note comedians who played the same character in every movie:
Chris Farley
Abbott and Costello
The Marx Brothers
Michael Cera
Adam Sandler
…etc

Yes.

What did she say?

I guess that song just doesn't mean anything anymore.
