Just another way of keeping score. Points in games have always been meaningless, but that never stopped ASS and POO from rocking the local arcade. Trophies, achievements - they're just a way to spread the score over all of your games.

I like achievements, especially when they challenge me to play in a new way. (Not a fan of the, "you completed chapter 1," or "you collected 1 billion foozles"). Geometry Wars 2 is great example of great achievements.

While I agree in theory, it's unlikely that SONY would allow a a disc based game to be published that was 100% code locked because of their emphasis on and marketing to the offline customer, which is anywhere from 1/5 to 1/3 of the current consumer base. This is why code locked content has been restricted to online,

What was said was essentially developers will, as they currently do on the PS3 and 360, have the option of locking content behind a single use code included with a new purchase. Typically these have been 'online passes' for multiplayer gaming or preorder bonus items, skins, maps, etc.

Even if they come back, I both have the choice to buy only games that do not have them and buy/trade a used copy in a peer-to-peer transaction to enjoy the single player experience.

He knows how it works. Madden X is sold used to buy Madden Y new. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Code locked DLC, be it preorder bonuses or online multiplayer passes is not the same, but I think everyone making spouting the 'it's the same' talking-point knows this and is simply being willfully disingenuous.

I thought the same thing about the XBone's green boxes. Let's pick some new colors! TBH, Sony wasted red on their greatest hits. Those boxes are badass and would look killer for the PS4. XBone should have gone with brown. For obvi reasons.

I believe Microsoft stated it must be connected for the system to operate, but there is a way to turn it "off" through settings.

I'm hoping that, like the PS3, it sells poorly, they realize they've cocked up and fix it. If they learn from the error of their ways, I'd be more than happy to reward them with my business.

That's so weird, because I heard the PR office in Redmond was called "The Woodwork."

When confronted with the shallow depth of the average living room in condos and apartments, townhouses, dorm rooms, the middle-American ranch house, and pretty much living quarters in the rest of the world, Microsoft PR replied, "This is an ultra-premium piece of equipment, and it's not for everyone. So stop being

That's a bummer for the non-HDMI HDTV folks. You can pick up a decent 32" for a few hundred or a 42" for a bit more these days, but dropping that at the same time as another four or five hundred is painful.

SONY shocks everyone with the following statement:

Simple. I want the XBone to fail because whenever a stupid idea is successful it will be copied.

They should just make a controller with the screen incorporated. Like these guys did! :)

They really sound a lot like SONY during the current gen console launches.

Without Steam, you probably wouldn't have a PC games market anymore. It saved that niche of the industry.

Dropping the mic is the exclamation point after you enjoy the refreshing can of whoop-ass you just opened.

It's the App Store model, ported to console. Yea. :|
